Exciting Cusco 6 Days/5 Nights

An exceptional trip to Cusco where you will visit its most important cultural and archaeological highlights. Experience the past and the present of the Inka culture and its traditions. See the stark yet beautiful contrast between the Inka and the 17th Century Spanish colonial architecture in Cusco. Delight on the stunning landscapes of the Sacred Valley, the heartland of the empire where you will also have the chance to experience thrilling activities such as white-water rafting, rock climbing, and zip-lining amongst others to choose from. Take the rail to Machu Picchu and explore the breathtaking stone citadel between the Andes and the rainforest, guarded by high mountain Andean peaks.

Itinerary

Day 01 Cusco-Sacred Valley

  • AM Arrive in Cusco*. Transfer to the hotel of your choice in the Sacred Valley of the Inkas**.

  • Stop on the way to the Sacred Valley to visit the typical Andean town of Chinchero, known to the ancient Inkas as the birthplace of the rainbow. Chinchero, just as many other towns around Cusco combines Inka ruins with Spanish-colonial buildings such as its church. Its got wonderful mountain views and every Sunday a colorful open market where artisans sell their goods to visitors. The inhabitants of this town are easily recognizable by their red and black woolen garments.

  • PM After checking in at the hotel, you will have the afternoon at leisure.

  • Overnight.

Day 02 Sacred Valley

  • Breakfast at the hotel in Sacred Valley.

  • AM Sacred Valley Day Tour: Pisac village and artisans marketplace***, Ollantaytambo Inka town and its impressive archaeological site.

  • PM Buffet lunch in a Sacred Valley restaurant.

  • PM Return to the hotel.

  • Overnight.

Day 03 Sacred Valley-Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu)

  • Breakfast at the hotel in Sacred Valley.

  • AM An adventure-type activity of your preference (white-water rafting/rock climbing/zip-lining). For other options to choose from, please ask us in advance.

  • Box lunch is included in the adventure activity.

  • PM Transfer to the Ollantaytambo train station where you will board the Expedition train or similar**** to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town).

  • The train ride takes approximately 90 minutes.

  • PM Meet and greet at the Aguas Calientes train station where assistance will be provided to reach the hotel of your choice**.

  • Overnight.

Day 04 Machu Picchu-Cusco

  • Breakfast at the hotel.

  • AM Assistance will be provided to board the shuttle bus to the Machu Picchu Inka citadel located upon the Machu Picchu Mountain (Old Mountain).

  • AM Two-hour Machu Picchu Citadel tour. When the guided tour is over, you will have time on your own to take pictures before boarding the shuttle bus back to Aguas Calientes.

  • Buffet lunch in a fine restaurant of Aguas Calientes.

  • PM Board the train from Aguas Calientes to the Poroy station from where you will be transferred to the hotel in Cusco.

  • Overnight.

Day 05 Cusco

  • Breakfast at the hotel.

  • Morning at leisure.

  • PM Guided city tour in the afternoon: the Main Square, the Cathedral, the Santo Domingo Church/Koricancha temple, and four surrounding archaeological sites (Sacsayhuaman, Q'enqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay).

  • Overnight.

Day 06 Cusco

  • Breakfast at the hotel.

  • Transfer to the Cusco airport at the most convenient time to board the scheduled flight*.
